The problem you are describing sounds like a non-contact issue in the psp although I've never heard of it happening with the D-pad. The simplest remedy is to try and adjust the 2 screws on the Dpad side of the back of the PSP. You need a #001 phillipshead screwdriver although #000 and #00 seem to work fine if they're small enough. Sometimes when the PSP is banged or dropped the screw holes on the front cover become slightly stripped preventing the psp analog (or dpad) from being in full contact with the system. If adjusting the screws doesn't work then you can try replacing the faceplate. This is only if it's a non-contact issue.[addsig]
