Hey, I saw that Fight Night clip. All I got to say about that is it looks awsome,no amazing. If you have'nt seen the clip. It is like the 3rd Matrix movie, when Neo hit Agent Smith and you can see his fist hit the rain and his face went into a wave form.[addsig]

I can't believe it took me this long to realize this. The PlayStation 3 font is a font called [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Once the consoles go above $300 space their officialy tagetting 14-30 male. If you have a system come out at $300, then theres still the high probability that parents will be able to buy their kids it. The $500 price point is not crazy, but Sony won't launch the system higher in price then the Xbox.
What will happen, is the Xbox will show it self at about $400 this fall, getting in extra sales before the PS3 comes along. The PS3 will, at that point, be behind in sales, and they will not be able to charge more for their system. Coming out at around the same price to stay in competition. If you don't belevie me then just take a look at the prices from the last few years. Sony has always followed suite when lowering their price points. Another thing that astounds me, is the life of the PS2 VS the Xbox and Gamecube. The PS2 has lived sence 2000, and it's succesor will come out next spring. Keeping solid with the 6 year plan for each playstation. The xbox was launch in 2001, and now it's being replaced in 2005, showing a life span of exactly 4 years. The Gamecube was launched in 2001, and will be replaced next spring as well as the PS3, which is a total of 5 years. If a system hasn't lived it's life through, some people may feel "ill" to buy another system. Though the system ranked with PS2 as the oldest, and the weekest in power, it still remains as the number 1 console on the market. It's sales are vastly over powering that of the Xbox and Gamecube. Even GTA SA sold more units then Halo 2 (which both hit the top 5 fastest selling games of all time respectively). Now, the Xbox 360 seems to be in the same position as the PS2 was in 2000. It will be alone for about 6 months on the market. I personnaly beleive that their are more then enough gamers that have their preference toward Sony, then Microsoft. However, with large 3rd party suport (along with Square-Enix), microsoft may pick up a few more casual and hardcore gamers. Personnaly, the xbox 360 is to sales oriented to meat my expectations. If you look at the system, you can pay for diffent versions of xbox live ("silver", and "gold"). I can't beleive they have the idea that they can charge MORE for online play, when Sony and Nintendo offer FREE internet A mere 2 million gamers think the Xbox live experience is okay to pay for, which I'm one of. However, with the new advancements I'm not so sure. There is no way I'll pay more then the already high price of $6 a month (or $50 a year). That brings me back to price, and righfully so. Internet is huge in this next generation, and the price will effect system sales. I want to beleive that the Xbox will be dampered by charging for it's Xbox live service. Also, for connecting a little to much to it's PC counterpart. However, with it's agressive move by giving every xbox 360 owner a full year of Xbox live for free, this may not be the case. People like to think to much in the now, and not in the long run. Also, many will feel they can get their fun out of Xbox live in 1 year, or at least give it a good test run. Sorry to really not go anywhere with this, I could go on for another hour or two and it wouldn't be over yet. -_-...So, long story short, the PS3 will regain it's number 1 slot through christmas time next year. Oh yeah, just to point out, IBM is working on all systems graphics chips. So with this cool little knowledge, no matter what system wins, IBM rains victorious. edited by: g4ever, May 20, 2005 - 08:51 AM [addsig]

I kinda skimmed through your entry g4ever but from what I read I agree. The only prob I have is that I don't care if it's a penny I refuse to ever pay for online play,no matter what game. I already pay enough and 50 bucks for a game should support FREE online play no matter what. I personally don't see how the XBos 360 will compete due to the sheer power and graphical advantage the PS3 will have over it's competitors but then again,we've only seen videos. I TOTALLY disagree with Raremind and anyone else that thinks the PS3 won't sell at 500. It may sell less than expected at first but your talking about the same parents that buy their children Escalades because they manage to graduate high school. Yeah, maybe yours and my parents wouldn't but most of the kids nowadays get everything they ask for. As for spending more on your A/V than a PS3. Do you realize the technology involved in this system?(or even the 360 for that matter). You'll regret not buying it when the first Blu-Ray player costs the same amount and thats all your getting, just the player. Plus if Sony comes out and says that the system will be 500 bucks and it comes out at 400 how would you react? Everyone would be pleasently surprised,if they said 400 and it was 500 wouldn't you be pissed? They're just giving everyone the "just in case" price for now.[addsig] |

The Xbox 360 will compete because of the price difference. I figure the Xbox 360 to be $100-$200 cheaper than the PS3 and the parents that can't afford the Escalades (PS3) will get their kids the cheaper Lexus RX (Xbox 360). I'm not saying that the PS3 won't sell, just that it won't sell as much as the Xbox 360. I know I am going to get both, but how many kids these days have jobs where they can get enough money for the PS3? I know I didn't until a year ago. I think that Microsoft will pull what Nintendo did with the Gamecube. They will have a much lower price. Granted this didn't help the GC in the beggining, but how many people bought a GC now just for games like RE4, Metroid, and Legend of Zelda. And with Halo 3 coming out at the launch of the PS3 will have more affect on it's sales than one may think. [addsig]

Well, for the most part of what you said I agree. But with the online cost,it's not a single 50 bucks,it's thousands upon thousands, and depending on the game, millions of people spending 50 bucks a piece. Besides it's the individual company that takes care of that. Hence the reason why GT4 didn't come with online playability, they didn't feel they should use that budget. With the X-Box,if im not mistaken,MS takes care of it all,not the individual third paty companies like PS2. I could be wrong on that but once agan,IMHO i won't pay additional for online play, even if that means no online for me,fine,I just won't pay it. As for the idea of price for competition,Sony isn't stupid. They realize that a lot of people will be pissed if they come out of the gate at 500 while the X-Box may be 350 (i HIGHLY doubt it will be lower than that). But it's Sony, knowing them they'll easily combat any hopes that Halo 3 might have with a FFXII release or possibly another GTA at launch. If they don't do that, than you may be right and they may be screwed. As for me saying that the X-Box won't compete,I know they will but honestly,I still don't consider it competition between PS2 and the X-Box. X-Box FINALLY started to sell more units and barely, within the last year, towards the downside of both systems now with the new Next Gen's coming out. I must say though, although I'm not impressed by anything the 360 has shown yet,I am in love with that new racing-rewind game thingee I've seen on X-Play. That may be the reason to get my ass to the stores and pick up a 360.
Last but not least,is anyone else besides me finally excited for a new Nintendo console if only for the idea that we'll be able to play EVERY Nintendo game ever made on it???? Imagine switching between the new Zelda and Ocarina with the touch of a button?!?[addsig] |
