I so totally agree with you d00d. Either that or the MGS4 game, I've heard..

That wasn't me, a local Gamestop employee said that AND he's a Microsoft fanboy, I guess you can call it that. Of course he'd say something like that.

I've read the same rumors online, that Halo 3 will launch simultaneously with the PS3, which is supposed to launch AFTER the XBox 360 (or whatever it's going to be called). Personally I like Halo and Halo 2, I own both consoles (although until GT4, my PS2 didn't get much use these days). And if these rumors are true, I'm sure MS is trying to steal a little of Sony's thunder, much as Sony did to them on their launch. But it won't stop anyone from buying a PS3. It may delay it a year since some people will probably only buy one of the consoles this year and wait until next year for the other(s).

Either way though, I think both Sony and MS have a lot of work to do if they want to have a PROPER launch before Christmas this year. [addsig]

Two things that I hope that the PS3 will have built into it, one) the ability to run PS2 and PS games, two) a UMD slot so that it will run PSP games and movie. If they do that I will buy one at launch other wise it might have to wait until my PS2 dies.[addsig]

Halo 3 will probably take away from some of the PS3's initial sales. If Sony does launch with some bigger titles, it won't many that go the XBox 360 route. But I don't think that will be much of an issue. I'm sure there will be console shortages anyways so many parents will be stuck buying an XBox 360 for Xmas 2006, not that is a bad thing.[addsig]

The "Next-Gen" console battle will be interesting to watch. When Xbox came out PS2 was already around for a long time and had a devoted fanbase. Xbox started getting better games and people were swayed. This time around it's head to head to head. No one will have a huge head start like Sony did... Xbox vs. PS2 vs. GameCube not really a battle because of Sony's early start...Xbox 360 vs. PS3 vs. Revolution will be a true battle.[addsig]

You know, I think we should be thankful for the fact that we have the privelige to ponder over whether or not we can buy two great consoles and their associated games.

Somewhere, a poor child in Ethiopia probably hasn't even heard of a NES

In my opinion, One game wouldn't make a massive impact as to knock the PS3 off course.
It all relies on Customer base at the end of the day and Sony leads that.
Think back to the PS1 days, Sony Buried the Saturn, fought off the N64 and finished Sega by keeping the Dreamcast at a distance. Sony stormed the markets in the UK with the PS2 aswell, as it stands the consoles are something like:
PS2 - 70%
Xbox - 19%
NGC - 11%
So obviously there will be a heap of dedicated customers awaiting the PS3, make your own conclusions.[addsig]

Microsofts new console will be first to the market... they've made this very clear on a repeated basis. Rumor in the industry as it stands right now is that MS's new console will be on North American soil before the close of 2005.

As it stands today in North America, the xbox has overtaken the PS2 in sales (this has more to do with everyone owning a PS2 than anything)

Microsoft released the original xbox wih one thing in mind... to take away a chunk of sony's market (Much like sony to nintendo with the original station)... and they ended up ontop of the much cheaper nintendo unit.... pretty impressive to say the least.

and dont expect a GTA launch title on the PS3. Sony & Rockstar's contract ends this year and R* already made it abundantly clear that they have no interest in renewing said contract. Exclusivity is a bad bad thing.[addsig]
