It's not just for pirating. As it was said before one major draw is Xbox Media Center. There are a lot of homebrew games and software for it as well. Not only that there are tons of emulators for it also. It basicly turns your xbox into a media center pc which has the ability to play xbox games. I soft modded mine so I didn't even have to open the case. Its basicly buying a computer for $100 and thats a damn powerful pc for price.[addsig]

yup. I'm sure this is one reason MS hasnt chased modchip makers like sony does....

I swear i've sold more xboxes via my modchip business than a lot of retail stores have... Its great hardware.

Its promising to see what was done on xbox & whats being done now on cube/ps2 .... only a matter of time before PSP gets hacked.[addsig]

Most important to modding is a modchip... this allows you to execute unsigned code (including game backups). The reason many mod an xbox is an app called Xbox Media Center... which allows you to run ANY media format on your xbox as well as stream media from and PC (like a mediacenterPC but cheaper)

my physical mods are all functional. My front panel has USB ports for linux uses, extra switches to control the modchip and an LCD screen which give me info on what media/game is currently playing... you can see an example of it parsing an ID3 on the screen in the pic.

**I still use xbox live. If you mod properly and carefully ms cant see the mod when its off.edited by: SupaDawg, Apr 04, 2005 - 09:15 PM
Dude, that is one seriously intense xbox you have there. I never knew that you could mod the Xbox so heavily and also have so many other different uses for it. For the money that you've put into it so far, I've got to say that it's really impressive. You've done an excellent job modifying your Xbox![addsig]
