Devils Advocate Required: Why should I choose PS3 over XB360

hmmm....has any one paid any attention in the last race? like in the last race, xbox will overpower the ps. sony likes to talk the talk, but they can't walk the walk. which is fine, most people jsut go by what there told anyways. also the media? BIG DEAL. oooh! blue ray! it doesn't matter, gaems iwll be the same maybe shorter because as the game industry moves more business and less artistry, games will get shorter because dead lines keep shrinking. then there the matter of online gaming: xbox kicked sony's @$$ in that category in the last race and is looking to do it again with even more customizable content. who will win? no one can know until both consoles are out and we can read the numbers. don't go bein a fanboy all ps3s way better!!11oneone because you are afraid of change. also xbox is confirmed backwards compatible and in the future, almost all games will come out for both systems accept the already obviously first person ones. M$ gets halo, sony gets gta first and some other crap and nintendo gets mario. M$ and sony will have the same rps (mostly) and action/adventure (mostly) and shooters (mostly). nothing is definate but in the end it doesnt even matter. jsut don't talk like you know crap when you don't. btw i am non-partisan, i am excited to see who wins the next console race, it should be a good one. either way were gonna hve 2 kick-@$$ systems with loads of good games. no matter which you choose there will be ups and downs, almost equally.

I have a felling that XBOX 360 will be the next dreamcast. Will have 2 or 3 good games and will die in a year or two [addsig]

Why would they add blu-ray if it didn't matter? You obviously don't know what you're talking about. Why would they make the games shorter? Sure, I agree they have strict deadlines, but the point of making a good game is to sell. No one is going to buy a game when they know it's short and not worth it. So it would be in their benefit to make a longer and better game. With so much competition growing in the game industry, companines have to come up with unique games that have never been seen before. Xbox overpowered the PS? Sure the Xbox is alot more powerful, but the Xbox was in a way distant second place behind the PS2. And what do you mean by sony not walking the walk? Next time, please use examples becuase there is no point in saying something you can't prove. Maybe you should follow your own advice and not talk about things you know nothing about.

Yeah cause my $300 computer can play games like Gears fo War. And IMO the PS3 looks worse than the 360. Especially the banana paddle.

talk the talk and not walk the walk as in sony has a history of saying there machines are more powerful than they are actually gonna be. not that i don't love my psp. also, my pc that i built myself cost well over a grand haha not comparable to an xbox in any way =P also the ps3 and xbox are gonna be msrp'd close if they wanna compete as the hardware for both machines is gonna be really close. and the disc thing...come on. most games today on dual layer (thats like 10 gigs) only use 2-5. do we need some crazy advanced super high capacity disc we will not use? i guess if its your thing, sweet but i jsut don't see the connection between system strength and media type (unless your takling about carts...why in the crap would nintendo still use cards? it doesnt even make sense at this point).[addsig]

It's down to personal preference, try playing them both and see which 1 you prefer, or do what alot of us will end up doing... buy them both & have best of both worlds [addsig]

But how can you prove that we will not use it? Think of the natural transition from the Playstation to the Playstation 2. One was cdrom the other was DVD. So the next logical step when considering the future of games is to allow for larger capacity.

Don't forget that it's not just about games. When either Blu-ray or HD DVD takes over as the next format, the first hi-def players will be around the ?500 mark. If Blu-ray does win Sony will already have a huge install base of Blu-ray players around the world.

Imagine this:

Blu-ray wins as the hi-def DVD format for the world.
People go looking for the first Blu-ray players on the market.
They find that the PS3 can play Blu-ray movies.
And it's a lot cheaper than any Blu-ray player on the market.

I can see why Sony has taken this step. It's a bold one, but I think it might just work.

In an update to what I said earlier, I might be getting the PS3 now after all.
At first I could only afford one of the next gen systems. But since my weekend job is going good and I just got a payrise at my other job, I can afford both.

Hell I could afford one now but I'm going to Amsterdam instead of going down the pre-order route.
