I couldn't think of a good place to put this question. 1,000 apologies mod if it throws this off course. Wouldn't you think that Sony would not want their prized product, the PSP, to communicate with the Xbox 360? Could they put something in the firmware that would disable the communication from a PSP to a 360? I am a gamer, not a hacker/mod guy so is what I said even capable?[addsig]

As for emulation, I think it's highly possible that the PS3 or Xbox360 will be able to emulate their past games. I think it's going to be more likely for the PS3 since it is a lot more powerful. [addsig]

Well, the Xbox360 is supposed to play the old popular Xbox games. Such as the Halo series. I think Microsoft is going to use emulation to make the Xbox360 backwards-compatible. Also, isn't the Nintendo Revolution going to use emulation to be backwards-compatible? You are going to be able to download some sort of ROM's to play SNES, NES, N64, and Gamecube games. Oh and by the way Bliss, you can mod an Xbox so you can run Linux on it. I'm not sure if you can run emulators and such. But what I think is that, the PS3 and Xbox360 being such powerful systems, they will be able emulate anything. It's only a matter of time before we get a modchip for the 2 systems, and then we'll take it from there.[addsig]

I'm just sick of posting a thread where I actually want at least an educated guess or at best an answer and getting people who leave an opinion with absolutely no explanation for it. Can I just clarify once and for all, I know the Xbox 360 will be compatible with some old Xbox games (and don't care) I know PS3 " " all existing PS1&2 games. I know Revolution will have downloadable content. What I'm talking about is cross pollination so to speak. In simple terms- I have over 100 original PS2 games. I'm going to buy an Xbox 360. My nephews want my PS2. I want to play my (unsuitable for 8 year old, ie most of them) PS2 games on the 360 at some point. Is this too much to hope for? PS. Sorry if I sounded snappy at any point. It's just that, well, I'm snappy all the time.[addsig]

I understand your frustrations. I'm no authority on it so I'll try my best at an educated guess.
Here goes! As been stated in forums before, the emulating PC's or consoles have to be much more powerful than the machine they emulate. I think you yourself stated seeing a PS1 emulator running at "1 frame per second" on a PC. (Correct me if I'm wrong!) I don't know therefore, if there are any reliable PS2 emulators out there, or even a PC outside of NASA powerful enough to run it. I'm not enough in the know to tell you if the 360 is capable therefore of doing it. My solution would be to keep your PS2, buy a cheap 2nd hand one for your nephews, and when the PS3 comes out, and I believe you said you'd buy it too, you may have more nephews to donate your own PS2 to. Thanks Dave! Looking at the release date of the PS3 I might have kids of me own to bloody worry about (hmm, nah!)
If there's an OS on the Xbox 360 then maybe someone can hack a PS2 devkit. PS. The PS1 can be succesfully emulated on the PC, it was the PSP's PS1 emulator that ran at a shoddy 1fps.[addsig]
