PS3 vs Nintendo 64

N64 is good considering it came out like 6 years ago i still have mine and i love the Zelda games.[addsig]

I think the criteria of the comparison has to be clarified. In it's day the N64 was the technical leader, but was whipped convincingly by the PS1, which sold 102 million units against the N64's 33 million. The N64 used the dated cartridge format (even then) which provided no compatibility path to it's successor, the Game Cube. However the PS1 was based on the MIPS R3000A CPU and this provided almost complete compatibility to the PS2, PS3 and even the PSP. The PS3 may have limited native games now but has the potential to run most of the PS1 and PS2 games. Game compatibility depended on whether the game conformed to the system's Technical Requirements Checklist (TRC).

If the comparison is based on which system is technically better then you the PS3 wins hands-down, no argument. If the comparison is based on which system has better games, then that's a factor of how many fanboys you can muster up. There's no doubt that Nintendo knew how to promote its icons. Nintendo is very strong with it's marketing. Even now the Nintendo Wii is outselling the PS3 (that's easy) and the Xbox 360.[addsig]

You know the n64 really cant match the ps3! I dont know much about the ps3 hacking scene but im sure they can emulate n64 on the ps3 or will one day.[addsig]

Yep -- maybe one day, but you got to learn to walk before you can run and until you're able to run homebrews on the PS3, then it's all just talk.[addsig]

N64 had way better gameplay. a good console is not graphics it is the enjoyment of the console that matters. N64 all the way. i love zelda and the other games that gave me hours of fun.

Ps3 is crap because on some of the game you need a hard drive to pay them becuase it dumps 5gb! OMG! on the hard drive.[addsig]

It looks like somebody did his homework :lol: !!!!!! :-P Remember that other thread long ago where we said the PS3 blows out every other system combined except the computer. How can you even think about this topic!? When I read this topic at first I thought that it was a joke![addsig]

I hope my post brought a different perception to the thread. The PS3 is ALL powerful -- no doubt about that. BUT it doesn't have Mario and for some, that's the rub. What is the best system? People have different criteria to judge this. I'm NOT a Mario fanboy, but in general for me it's gameplay. [addsig]

....but...I MADE THIS THREAD!

And about the N64 games being better, it's just the graphics that wuold take it down for this time....that's true. Maybe there should be a Nintendo 2K7, ALL the same exact games but with up-to-date graphics!
