Well it may have started off as a joke, but it is an ongoing theme for serious gamers, in that, why should we pay for an over-priced game console, if it doesn't provide us with any significant improvement in gameplay?

I'm not anti-Sony (so please don't flame me), but it seems to me that Nintendo is the only game company that is addressing this. Its Wii has got to be the most innovative game console EVER produced. This, considering that it doesn't have the fastest CPU or the best graphics.[addsig]

I'd buy 1. :-)
Does anyone agree with this though?
Think about it...for the first time making Mario look REAL. Turn Mario 64 into Mario 2K7. Nintendo has NEVER been on top of their graphics, they seem to have no idea that 'quality' sells.[addsig]

Yep I agree (to a certain extent). Quality sells and Nintendo produce quality products. The mistake you are making is that you think better graphics equates to better quality. One could have the best graphics in the world, yet the crappiest gameplay. There is no doubt in my mind that Nintendo know what they are doing. Have you looked at the infrastructure surrounding the Wii. This includes:
1) The game console with the remote controllers
2) Online services for upgrading, purchasing games, third party applications such as the Opera Internet Browser.[addsig]

But you would think N64 would like to have some nicer graphics...
Maybe what your saying about 'quality' not being the graphics isn't the the case, but I won't get a Wii and if it had much better graphics like Xbox 360 or PS3 than I'd actually think about buying a Wii and I'm probably not alone, making the Nintendo sales on the Wii fire much higher than they are already.[addsig]

Some interesting statistics from:[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]
The following is a partial copy & paste of the article from the site:

After Nintendo Wii outsold its competitors in January, the financial analysts are modifying their predictions about Wii?s impact in the gaming world. According to FT.com, Yoshiyuki Kinoshita, an analyst at Merrill Lynch, now predicts that by the year 2011, a third of all Japanese households and almost 30 per cent of all US households will own a Wii. Nintendo Wii video game console sold 436,000 units in January in the US, according to statistics released Wednesday from research firm NPD.

The strong sales figures showed that the innovative Wii easily outsold its competitors. Microsoft's Xbox 360 sold 294,000 units and Sony's PlayStation 3 sold 244,000 units. Sony's PS2, a seven-year-old games console, outsold the PS3 with nearly 300,000 units in January.

The latest total games consoles sold to date, is available from [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]
Xbox 360 10,594,385
PS3 1,485,443
Wii 4,725,550

Note the Wii was introduced in November 2006, the Xbox 360 in November 2005 and the PS3 in November 2006

Man, how can you say that? It's not the fault of the system, but the game programmers'.

Besides, i can't say i didn't enjoy N64... when i was youngggggggg

But I also do undestand that PS3 is intended for more mature, older, money-earning gamers.

I'm getting mine in a couple months! :-D
