Wouldn't it be easier to associate "key words" with the files, then be able to find / filter with the meta data? Seems good, just a little too over complex to manage as the data base grows. Drop me an IM if you'd like a tutorial.[addsig]

What I really want to do is make the File Vault easier to navigate. I have found that the description of some files do not always explain how the file can be used. For example this [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] it tells about the game and how it was created but it doesn't tell you what firmware you have to use or what kind of game it is (Tiff, Flash, Java etc.). There are also files that have different versions like the Best Homebrew Pack, it has four different versions that could be put into one folder. I have also found files that are not in the right section. The purpose of this project is mostly to make sure that all the files in the File Vault are in the right section, and they stay like that. edited by: superskull85, Nov 05, 2006 - 11:31 PM [addsig] |

Perhaps we can change around or add specific things in the description, not just have a block for description, but maybe spaces like "Firmware required", "type of game", etc. Then we can better sort and locate files, not only us but the members as well.[addsig]

We could do that as well but I find that some people don't even like to fill in the version of there file, I think by doing this people would be able to find the the type of file they want by finding the correct folder, instead of reading a big list and trying to find them. We could probably do this anyways to make the File Vault even more organized. But because this would apply to homebrew mostly we would need to get people to test the files to see what version the file would require.
We would definitely need people to help for this project though. [addsig] |

So I thought of something today. Although sourfish does a great job of packaging all the latest TIFF games, perhaps we could follow the same organized route as the Game Demos and keep them together? If you go into here: File Vault -> Homebrew -> Games You get into an area that is just a bunch of homebrew stuff all tossed around. While having all of the content is great, I'm with superskull85 in trying to organize all this and make it much more easy and efficient to use (the File Vault, that is). What about making a sub-category within Homebrew -> Games (much like game saves are), where we can have TIFF homebrew, 1.50 homebrew, etc. For now I'm only focusing on TIFF because it's a smaller group, but I'd be happy to set up all of the TIFF programs with screenshots in a similar format as the Game Demos. Lemme know what you think (superskull85 and zmcnulty), as well as all the members in the direction you think we should take all of this. We want it to be the best for the members to access and find what they're looking for. Edit: So basically it would branch off like this: File Vault -> Homebrew -> Games -> TIFF Games File Vault -> Homebrew -> Games -> Kernel Access Games File Vault -> Homebrew -> Games -> eLoader Games ...something like that, although I'm only interested in dealing with TIFF myself, I'll take on larger projects in the future.[addsig]
