Efficient Lubrication Helps Cement Companies Reduce Costs by Up to 30%

Friction is an unavoidable natural phenomenon. The fuel used to reduce the friction and wear of mechanical parts each year accounts for 1/3 of the total fuel consumption. Besides, resistance can also cause unproductive loss of mechanical energy, shorten the life of the machine, and reduce mechanical efficiency.

A survey of the use of lubricants by global cement companies found that, due to budget and time constraints, only 34% of large cement companies can effectively use the regular on-site service provided by their lubricant suppliers. None of the cement companies are ready or taking action. According to statistics, only 41% of cement companies have fully implemented standardized operations to manage lubricants efficiently, and 59% of respondents acknowledged that they did not strictly and regularly conduct lubricant training for employees. Misconceptions about oils are also apparent, with 44% of respondents saying that all oils and greases have the same level of performance.
Renée Power(Shell global lubricant market manager)states, "The impact of equipment lubrication on the total cost of ownership (TCO) is often underestimated. Nearly half of the companies surveyed did not expect lubrication to help reduce maintenance costs. However, in the past five years, we have helped cement plants save more than USD 51 million. Thanks to the long experience accumulated in the cement industry, Shell Lubricants can identify potential lubrication opportunities and create great commercial value.

"We are very clear that companies are under pressure to control costs and often seek immediate results. For example, extending the oil change interval is one of the ways that customers can realize cost savings immediately after upgrading their lubrication systems. The longer the grease has a longer service life, the less frequent the need for grease or oil changes, which helps reduce overall lubrication costs. "Dr. spenard said.

From this point of view, in the industrial and cememt enterprises, not only must they select appropriate lubricants, but also need a formal lubricant management system to meet the lubrication needs of their machines, thereby reducing operating costs and increasing equipment productivity.
