Air entraining agents
These are anionic surfactants. At the water-air interface the hydrophobic groups is directed toward the air. Hydrophobic layer is formed when the hydrated particles are close to the surface of the air. This allows for the formation of large quantities of fine air bubbles in the concrete mix. The directional adsorption layers of these air bubbles are the same as their charge. They repel one another and can be evenly distributed.
The anionic air-entraining substances can also be used to prevent bubbles bursting. They are absorbed onto the bubble film by calcium salt precipitation, which is found in high calcium cement.

Use of concrete air entrainers

3.Reduce concrete strength. Concrete's strength is affected by its air content. This means that concrete with a higher compressive strength of 1% will shrink by between 4% and 6%. Also, it will have a decrease in its strength for flexural purposes by about 2% to 3.3%.
