How does 3D-Printing Stainless Steel Powder SS316L produce?
Type 316 is a chromium nickel austenitic stainless steel that contains between 2% and 3% molybdenum. The molybdenum content increases corrosion resistance, resistance against pitting in chloride-ion solutions and high temperature strength.
The 3D printing of stainless steel is done by laser sintering or melting. Two technologies are available for this material, DMLS and SLM. At Sculpteo for stainless steel printing, we use DMLS, Direct Metal Laser Sintering, a laser sintering process on EOS M280 printers.
