SiS2 is a molecular formula for silicon sulfide. When moisture is present, white fibrous orthorhombic and tetragonal Crystals decompose to SiO2 andH2S. It is a flammable substance when heated.

Silicon Sulfide SiS2 Particles:
Silicon-sulfide, an inorganic chemical compound with the formula SiS2, is a colorless acicular crystal. SiS2 is a colorless, acicular crystal. Its relative density equals 2.02, its melting point 1090, and at 1250 it sublimates to nitrogen. Insoluble in benzene; Soluble in dilute base. Hydrolysis and Ammonolysis were caused by water, ethanol or liquid ammonia. Reaction of alkali metalsulfides with thiosilicates.
siS2 decomposes easily to produce hydrogen sulfide, just like other silicosulfide substances, such a bis (trimethylsilyl sulfides). It was reported that in liquid ammonia it can form the imides Si(NH), NH4SH or NH4SH. Recent reports, however, have shown the crystallization of (NH4)2[SIS3 NH3)]*2NH3 to be a product containing SIS3 NH3, a tetrahedral anion.
By reaction with ethanol, tetraethyl and orthosilicate were produced. Alcoholysis was carried out with tertbutyl alcohol in large quantities to produce tri (tertbutyl-silicate) silicon mercaptan.

What is the production process of Silicon Sulfide (SiS2) Powder?
1. Burn aluminum powder in the crucible with extra sulfur. Aluminum sulfide and slightly excess silica are crushed together. Mixture is put in a shingle. Place shingle into quartz tube. Heat quartz tube with dry nitrogen. The reaction starts around 1100. At 1200 to 1300, the sublimated Sis2 will adhere to the lower temperature region of the quartz tube. After purification, it's sublimated in nitrogen or vacuum. You can prepare tetragonal Sis2 by heating a mixture of silicon and sulfate at 5x103MPa 700.

2. Add sulfur to decompose the silicon at a low temperature. By heating 96g sulfur and 39g Si(SC2H5)4 for 10 minutes at 200°C, you can produce Si-disulfide. The latter is then dissolved in benzene.
