The 15-5PH stainless is an upgrade of the 17-4PH that was developed in the 1960s. This finer structure was achieved by the remelting procedure. This delicate construction increases the material's strength. The material has excellent corrosion resistance and is suitable for many different industries. It can be processed either in the solution annealing stage or the final heat-treatment state. Heat treatment at different temperatures improves the strength and ductility.
Any conditions are acceptable for processing 15-5PH. The alloy must first be slightly formed under the condition "averaging". Then, it is welded by using techniques such as protection fusion or resistance method. Heat treatment at 1038degC (1900degF), lasting for 1/2 hour, was followed by cooling the material with air. It is then followed by annealing the alloy at 1038degC for 1 hour and cold working.
